Jack Fights off the Pea Costume

Jack demanded a better halloween costume this year. Recall the low-end pea costume his Mom got him last year. This year we decided the baby bear will be a bear. But first we needed to get a few plain pumpkin shots.



Here's one in his bear costume. The costume is obviously pretty warm so we're hoping it cools down a bit before halloween. It is was ~85 this week-end and the poor kid was sweating in his costume.

Halloween 2009 - Spooky Photo Montage - Debut of Jack's Costume!!!

Halloween is upon us once again. We went to the same pumpkin patch as last year and Jack had a great time. He was old enough to ride a pony and climb the hay this year. Mom took him into the animal pen as you'll soon see!



Jack will be an elephant this year for Halloween. He tried it on again this morning and it just barely fits.

Halloween Costumes!

Here are Jack and Elle in their Halloween costumes.  Elle is Hermione Granger from Harry Potter and Jack is a Hazmat guy (same as he was 2 years ago but this time with $25 extra in his pocket!)

Jack's Halloween Haul

This was Jack's first Halloween where he got to go trick-or-treating. We met up with our friends who live in a friendly neighborhood for that sort of thing (this nieghborhood would be high on Zillow's Trick-or-Treat Housing Index).

Jack's first house ever was interesting in that he really didn't know what to do exactly despite some of our coaching and practicing over the course of October. When the door opened he bolted through and proceeded to run through their kitchen and out into their living room. I finally caught him and escorted him back out where he scored his first piece of candy. He caught on quickly after a few houses and came home with the following:


By far, the most popular candies given out in this neighborhood were the Hershey's bar and the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. You can see he scored two "full sized" treats. Someone also give him a Pomegranate. He really don't know he was supposed to eat the candy so we didn't run into the problem of him trying to eat all of his candy.

The pallets of Halloween stuff has arrived at our Home Depot store as of today (8/26).  Not too early really....

Finally, it seems we've seen a steady decline for the past few years in trick or treaters. Well - tonight that trend changed! There were probably 30-40 kids who came through and we began running low on candy. I pulled out containers of Hunts pudding just in case but fortunately we didn't have to go there.

Halloween Recital!

Jack and Elle had their Halloween recital this past week-end and both did a great job!

The 2021 Halloween Haul!

The 2021 Halloween Haul was mostly earned by Elle.  Jack and I were working the "haunted cave" we made in front of the house!

2011 Halloween Haul

Here is Jack's candy haul from Halloween.

It is interesting to compare the haul from the same shot, featuring Kodak, two years ago. Reese's continues to dominate the landscape with Hershey's falling off somewhat.

Yuki: Karate Master

We dressed Yuki up as a black belt karate master for Halloween this year. The animal tolerated this costume better than most. The only thing he kept knocking off was his headband. In this picture, you see Yuki kind of getting into the Halloween spirt and giving his loudest hi-ya yell.

Halloween '06

We went to the big Halloween party last night. Steph and I went as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf respectively. Here's a snap:



One of the better sets of costumes was "Jack" and his cheerleader - for those of you without Jack in the Box restaurants the costumes might not resonate as well.



Kodak got a new outfit this year. He's going to be a police dog. As expected, he is a member of the K-9 unit.

Halloween 2005

The Halloween party was a success and our costumes were certainly among the best.



The robe Tricia made certainly made my costume and the black glove on one hand also added a nice touch. Steph's Queen Amidala costume also ended up working out nicely. She did a great job on her makeup even though it forced her to drink out of a straw for most of the evening.



There was another guy there dressed as a Jedi with the Mace Windu purple light saber that was pretty cool. We never got a chance to do battle though.

The 2007 Christmas Challenge

The Christmas junk is arriving in force - even before the peak of the Halloween junk! Here's the challenge - I spotted boxes of this horrible looking "Christmas Story" ornament featuring Ralphie, the kid who nearly shot his eye out, in a local Wal-Mart. Retail price is $5.97. Our goal is to monitor these fine items and see how they sell and the lowest selling price. Anyone who spots one below a $1 needs to buy it. First evidence of this (receipt and ornament) wins a crisp $20.

Elle's Halloween Pumpkin Kitty

Elle made a pumpkin kitty last year that was a hit!  Until she dropped it and her tail (the stem) broke off!

Yuki's Squirrel Suit

We may as well keep the Halloween posts coming! This year Yuki surprised trick-or-treaters as his favorite animal, the noble squirrel. Normally he is quick to tear out of the silly things we dress him in. For some reason, the squirrel suit was different. He left it on all night.
