Red Sox Game ‘82!!!

I stumbled across an old ticket from one of our summer vacations back in '82!  It was a trip to Boston.  I think this was the year Dad attended some sort of summer course at MIT and we tagged along... In any event we went to this game at Fenway to watch a Red Sox victory.  Game details and Boston's impressive roster below...

Do You Know The Way To Monterey? - Volume 3 / 3 - Cowpot Edition

While Del Monte Beach and the Monterey Aquarium were the highlights the real highlights for us was watching our kids interact in a much less structured environment than they are used to...

Jack in a hotel bed by himself.   He did great.  We should write a book on transitioning a kid from his crib to his bed!

The hotel room also featured plenty of "crawling races".  And when Jack had too much pent up energy we had him do laps (supervised of course) around floor 9 of the Embass Suites - that may have had something to do the the prank calls we received one night...  There were plenty of hugs to go around as well...

Jack fit right in at the Dennis the Menace park and enjoyed drinking water out of the lion's open mouth.

Jack and Dennis...

Finally, we threw them a curve ball by stopping unexpectedly at the Jelly Belly factory on the way home. It Jack a bit to figure it out...but once he did he was in candy factory heaven.

Do You Know The Way To Monterey? - Volume 2 / 3 - Aquarium Edition

The night before the aquarium we braved eating out on the old Monterey wharf. Food wasn't great. Atmosphere was.

Towards the end of dinner Jack and I had several thump wrestling matches while we waited for the waiter. Jack is a natural.

We finallly arrived at the aquarium.  Jack was mesmerized by the fish a few times including the below (there was a huge tank of fish right above sea quote.  Mostly, however, Jack was enthralled with the escalator.

The open sea exhibit contained tons of different fish including a great white shark, several hammer head sharks, lots of tuna and this school of fish numbering 20,000!  We got to see the feeding of all the aforementioned fish!

The jelly fish exhibits were pretty amazing.

Almost to the Aquarium!

Do You Know The Way to Monterey? Volume 1 / 3 - Beach Edition

Our first family vacation was a grand success that began on a high note as the weather was great for beaching.

First we had a long drive there which included lunch in a rest stop and Jack receiving the advice from a stranger in the rest stop bathroom that "you don't want to be caught shooting upstream" while he was patiently waiting for the short urinal.

Here we are after settling in and claiming our spot on Del Monte beach. Jack was enthralled by the big waves and Elle enjoyed the sand.

This picture was taken after we convinced Steph to remove her sweater and Ugg boats!

Running from the waves!

These waves are fast!
