You Don't Have Any Teeth Sister!

I'll Be Back (Not)

The Schwarzenegger era has ended in California. So too ends the era of the governator souvenir t-shirt. I've seen these shirts in the SMF gift shops for years. Something tells me this will be my last sighting.

Kodak The Beagle: 11/1/96 - 4/20/11

We had to put Kodak to rest today bringing the beagle era in the Tangeman household to a sad close.   Kodak, aka Champion Sierra Skyline Two Island, was a great dog just like his pal Ranger.

Known for pulling down pies from the counter and doing about anything for food, Kodak was a loyal pup and a great companion through the years.

The pup had a unique ability to always be in the way.

Goodbye to a good dog...

Erin on Oprah Part 2

I wrote on this blog a few months ago that Erin and her Mom got the chance to go see an Oprah show in Chicago. On the new Oprah Network OWN, there is a show that documents the making of individual episodes of the Oprah show in it's final season. The making of episode for the show Erin and her Mom attended recently aired. On it, there was a decent shot of the audience showing Erin and her Mom. There is a picture of this below. Erin's Mom is the blue shirt to the right of Erin. My apologies for not having HD TV, otherwise the image would be clearer.

One Single Life

I heard about an interesting iPhone/iPad game called "One Single Life". The game is simple and involves your character running and jumping from one rooftop to another. If you mess up the jump, you fall off the building and die. The catch is, you get only one life. Not only is the game over when you die, you can never play the game again. You're dead forever. I played the game and died on my third jump.

Asparagus Festival Kicks Off

Asparagus season is peaking and the asparagus festival kicks off today in Stockton, California!

Here's my favorite way to cook asparagus. Wash it and cut about an inch off of the ends. Put it in aluminum foil and brush it with a ligh amount of olive oil (just a little oil can easily coat all the spears). Sprinkle with coarse sea salt to taste. Then fully enclose the asparagus in aluminum. When ready to cook place on a pre-heat grill (350 degrees plus) and cook for about 5 or 6 minutes per side.

Asparagus is one of nature's most perfect foods. A member of the lily family, it's a nutrient-dense food high in folic acid - and a good source of potassium, fiber, vitamin B6, vitamins A and C, and thiamin. It also has no fat, no cholesterol and is low in sodium. Under ideal conditions, an asparagus spear can grow 10 inches in a 24-hour period.

2011 NCAA Tourney Winner

In a come from behind move driven by the success of UConn getting to the final four Robert takes the title for the first time in a couple years.   Generally speaking, it was a bad year of picking for all participants.

Brazil!

After three flights and many hours we finally made it to Curitiba, Brazil.   Curitiba is one of the largest cities I'd never heard of.  With over 3 million people and an expansive skyline it is pretty impressive.  It also appears to be way more under control than Sao Paulo or Rio De Janeiro.  I went for a walk and parts of it looked like LA...there are definitely some "third world" areas as well.

Here's what the skyline looks like...

Beef seems to be one of the stapes here.  Tonight we ate dinner at a buffet where they basically bring around steak and slice small slabs onto your plate...over and over and over again.  It was very good.

I will say that if Brazil is going to do a good job hosting the World Cup and then the Olympic Games they have a lot of work to do with their infrastructure...and little time.   So far so good on the visit though I'm exhausted.

Best In Town?

I noticed the following bold claim in a strip mall restaurant tonight. I plan to put the claim to the taste test in the near future.

Phone Snaps!

Got a few good phone snaps of the kiddies this week-end.

Here's Elle all dressed up with no place to go.

We had the monthly Home Depot trip on Saturday with Jack and he was excited about building a "bug house" complete with sliding door and net! We haven't used it yet.
