Homemade Strawberry Shakes

In the heat of summer few things are as enjoyable as a milkshake. The kids and I recently made strawberry shakes at home. Ingredients for two, juice glass sized cups were as follows: 5 fresh strawberries (washed) 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream 1 cup of milk These shakes turned out a bit thin so you might add more ice cream to the recipe.

Happy Summer Solstice!

The days get short from here on out though the heat is just arriving somewhat ironically.    How do the lengths of the days vary across places of interest for this blog's readers?

Muskegon gets 15 hours and 23 minutes of sun with the rise coming at 6:05 but the set at 9:28pm!

Then comes Lincoln with 15 hours and 7 minutes of sun.  5:55am and 9:02pm respectively

Sacramento clocks in with the earliest rise...at 5:42am and a 8:33pm set.

Jonesboro?  5:46am and a 8:22 set.

Now you know!

A Cameron Park Breakfast! Wait for it..!

Jack and I intended to go to breakfast at the Purple Place but got off to a late start and the place was packed with not even parking available!   So we continued driving and ended up at McDonalds in Cameron Park!  We pick up as we wrap up breakfast...

Advice!

Not sure who said this...but someone obviously did.

“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”

The Heat is On

Today was crazy hot in Sacramento...the final stated high was 109 degrees and even my car (which always measures a little high) set a blistering record at 113!

What to do with the kids? Well, I loaded the little hot dogs up and took them to the mall so they could burn off energy and stay cool at the same time. We actually had fun and the kids got to enjoy their first Hot Dog on A Stick...aka Corndog. Elle's highlight was when she saw a castle in the Disney Store.... she couldn't contain her excitement!

Another highlight was the carousel ride. Jack got a dragon and Elle a mighty steed:

Through a Submarine Portal

Jack did this original drawing at school recently. I asked him to tell me about it and it is essentially a bunch of sharks having dinner as seen through a port hole in a submarine! This Jack original has been sent to cousin Olivia.
