Napa!!!

We're off for a short trip to Napa Valley to meet our friends Chris and Kara. Kara is back from London for a few weeks so it will be fun to catch up. Planning to go to Caymus and Robert Sinskey wineries for sure but who knows from there. More info later. How about the Huskers! First game is a win in the CWS.

On a more sour note - Georgia Tech's start point guard recruit has drafted and has signed with the Yankees. No point guard next year at Point Guard U!

Wednesday

I'm trying to decide whether to see Batman Begins tonight. It's only playing at the drive in theatre here. That'll probably change Friday. A trial here finished up today and an 84 year old man from Ohio was convicted of vehicular manslaughter when he rammed into a motorcycle underneath the Archway monument. Seems he was looking up at the arch and didn't notice the construction and slowing traffic. I've got a new case as a special prosecutor in Dawson County. It's a stabbing in a bar. Alex has moved into the basement and the arrangement is working out OK.

Two of our favorite cousins: Casey and Jenny have discovered the blog! Exciting stuff to be sure. Things are a bit slow on the news front. To celebrate the Michael Jackson acquittal some of the radio stations are playing lots of MJ stuff. Steph and I heard Man in the Mirror followed by Human Nature while carpooling into work this morning.

Still saddened over Georgia Tech missing the College World Series in Omaha yet again...oh well - Nebraska made it.

i use N and some HO. you can buy plastic people, pets, buildings, cars, etc in wide variety
in both HO and N, which are the two most popular scales. trainworld.com is my favorite
source, and internettrains.com is also good. they have decent web sites. HO might be better for your needs as N stuff can be pretty tiny. I have some HO cows and an N train station, about 3 inches long.

i'm none too accomplished at posting. but practicing. carol and i took her mom
to lunch saturday 6/11/05. wendy's spicy chicken sandwich is good. skipped supper after that.
i've been messing with trains, and doing a little cleaning. i've started doing a little walking recently
and i feel very good. our trip west has been delayed but likely will still happen. speilberg's 'into
the west' gets this bad review in usa today: " 'into the west' goes south". i agree. a flick like this has the main job in our day and time of being politically correct rather than good or realistic.

Monster movie in the works?

Huskers are headed to CWS as they blang Miami in two strait games! I'm going to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith tonight. I'll let you know how it is. Alex has moved into the basement. Should be a decent arrangement. Yuki and I went for a run.

Dad, what do you know about the little towns that go with model trains? Can you get a starter kit with some trees, buildings, and people for an inexpensive price? I'm thinking of doing a short monster movie where Yuki is blown up to Godzilla size. To do so, I'd need a small town for Yuki to destroy.

Week-end Fun

Things aren't looking so good for GT Baseball after falling to Tennessee in the first game. The ACC I believe lost every game yesterday...

Steph and I are going biking today and to a friends party in Sacramento tonight. We watched Attack of the Clones last night to get Steph up to speed for ROTS (revenge of the sith) later this week-end. The red Lightsaber arrived yesterday. It is pretty neat though at $100 it may be a stretch.

Is worth maybe $50...that's the going rate on Craigslist. I'd say you are better off keeping it and setting up a dual monitor situation. May come in useful with all your editing.

Columbia, S.C. - Number two national seed Georgia Tech shut out South Carolina 5-0 Monday night behind the five hit pitching of Tim Gustafson and Matt Wieters and the Yellow Jackets advanced to a super regional next weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Georgia Tech, 45-17, will host the best of three super regional at Russ Chandler Stadium with the winner advancing to the College World Series in Omaha. South Carolina, which advanced to the World Series each of the past three years, ended its 2005 season with a 41-23 record. The Gamecocks won three of five games in the Atlanta regional.

The Gamecocks forced a Monday game by winning twice on Sunday. South Carolina eliminated Michigan 4-3 in a game delayed three hours and 32 minutes by rain and then downed Georgia Tech 8-3 to extend the regional tournament to Monday night.

Mac going to Intel, Huskers make Supers

Well now there will be no more reason for Robert to hound me to use a Pee-Cee instead of a Mac. By the way I got a new Mac...an iMac G5 17inch running at 2Ghz. My aging G4 tower was crashing under intensive video rendering likely due to all the 3rd party upgrades I stuck inside it. The good news is I was able to trade in the old machine for $500 credit towards the $1400 new machine. A much better solution than simplying putting the old machine in a closet to gather dust (my past solution). By the way if anyone is in the market for an excellent 20 inch sony trinitron monitor (flat screen, not flat panel) I have one available for the trading block. Otherwise I'm giving it a shot on ebay.

Anyway, looks like the next Mac I buy in a few years will be a "Mac-tel" box.

Also, 3 cheers for Huskers clinching the Super-Regional. Hopefully G-Tech can follow suit tonight.

Who would have thought....despite healthy but apparently unwarranted skepticism, the vast majority of Mac (and indeed Tech) pundits were wrong and CNet was right. Bloody hell, even Dvorak was right for once!

Hell has frozen over; but there is a lot of potential for amazing things along this new road we have suddenly found ourselves on. Once the shock wears off (which it still hasn't), we'll be posting on a very frequent schedule for the foreseeable future as efforts are made to begin to see what this means for the Mac community....check back often. You'll be glad you did, because as change is in the wind for the Mac, so too is change in the wind for Mac OS Rumors....

Next version of Mac OS X will be "Leopard," and will focus largely on the transition to Intel/x86. As Apple seeks to commoditize many aspects of its hardware, Leopard will focus on unique features including an extremely graphically-rich user interface revamp leveraging the meta-data technology (aka Spotlight) introduced in Tiger.

Apple has adapted Transitive's QuickTransit code morphing engine, as rumored, and will deliver it to developers as "Rosetta" which allows PowerPC binaries to run on Intel with reasonable performance. A developer kit with a 3.6GHz P4 Intel-based "Mac," OS X 10.4.1 for Intel, and Rosetta will begin shipping in two weeks.

Well folks, the big news we've all been waiting on has hit: Steve says that IBM hasn't delivered on its promises, no 3GHz and no portable-friendly G5's....and starting a year from now, Apple will begin shipping Macs with Intel processors. The transition to Intel will be completed in 2007, according to Mr. Jobs....

Tiger is completely ready to run on Intel, and is being demonstrated right now on a 3.6GHz Pentium 4.

In the world of NCAA Baseball things are looking up for the big 3. Nebraska, Arkansas and Georgia Tech all enter the day 2-0 so will await the winner out of the loser brackets and then need to win 1 of 2 against them.

Went to Sandra Dee's last night for some BBQ. It is in downtown Sacramento and rates as the best BBQ found so far in Sac. On a Couch's BBQ scale Sandra's rates a 6/10.

Yuki attacked!!!

Yuki and I went running. Coming down a neighborhood sidewalk, the bay of a wayward beagle sounded out. He was charging strait for us. Yuki and I kept running. The beagle began to snap and bite at the nervous Yuki, so I sent the hound sailing with a swift kick to the ribs. A girl came running trying to corral the beagle. Yuki and I made our getaway.

That's a nice feature using pictures like that. That HELLO picture program doesn't work with Mac but they offer a Mac alternative program. Maybe I'll try it out. I'm spending some time with Yuki this Saturday morning. I watched Creighton beat NC State last night at Haymarket Park in Lincoln. Later I ate at the famed "Lazlos".

Tech barely beat Furman in the first game of the NCAA Tourney - moving to the winner's bracket to play South Carolina.

Pinback

I saw a band called Pinback last night. They were pretty good. The opening act was called Pit Er Pat. They weren't as good. I'm going to see some baseball in Lincoln tonight weather permitting. I was ready for a jury trial Monday complete with a Keynote closing argument (it's Apple's new answer to PowerPoint). The defendant took the deal this morning though so the trial is off. The unemployed defendant punched his employed wife who was 5 months pregnant because he thought she took his cigarette money. Nice guy.

It's official. I'm getting a roomate. His name is Alex Strattman. He graduated from Texas Tech law school last year and has a job with a private firm here. He's originally from Kearney. He's getting the basement and I'm taking upstairs. It should be a decent arrangement that yields an additional 450 to 500 a month in my pocket.

Good Stuff

The mini Darth Vader movie was good. The sabre looks cool. My subscription to the Sacramento Bee ran out but I found a good deal on the Wall Street Journal - a much more substantial and overwhelming rag.

World Series Regionals start on Friday I believe.
