Bikes!

Steph and I finally emptied the garage of our 20 year old bikes a few months back.  These were kind of special bikes though because they were the bikes we were riding when we met.  We'd load them on top of her bike-rack equipped Volvo and head to the hills or trails for some great mountain biking.

The Impossible Whopper!

This post is a bit dated -we compared the Impossible Whopper vs. the regular one.  The impossible one seemed a bit too perfect in its size.  You can't tell much difference though - especially when slathered with mayo, ketchup and maybe a little bacon!

The Grand Wagoneer!

We saw a rare Grand Wagoneer at Sam's the other day.  Note the faux wood trim!

Jeep is finally on track to launch a new Grand Wagoneer which looks a lot like a big Grand Cherokee if the pic below is accurate.

Elle’s NY Presentation!

Elle presented on NY recently at school and did a great job.  They teach all kids to name the 50 states in less than a minute.

London in Food!

While I sadly did not get to visit London proper (we stayed around Heathrow Airport) I was able to visit several pubs during the evening (on foot)

The first was a a true small pub so I scored Guinness and the "Pie of the Day"

The second was a bit more upscale where I got a nice crusted fish.

I also scored the Colorado version of the "Black Velvet" which is half hard cider (on the bottom) and half Guinness floated over it on the top.  It is tricky to make.  Start by pouring the cider in the ultimate glass you will use.  Then fill a separate glass half full with Guinness.  Once the Guinness settled down a bit, carefully more it over a spoon onto the cider.  Pour too quickly and they mix and you don't get the half and half effect shown below.

I Googled the Black Velvet and learned the London version is a bit different... it is a beer cocktail made from a combination of stout and white sparkling wine. The drink was first made by a bartender of Brooks's Club in London in 1861 to mourn the death of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's Prince Consort.

Above the class fish and chips.

London

Flew to London for work and with the coronavirus scare the flights were somewhere between 20 and 50% full.  Enjoyed having an entire row to myself.  This was also my first flight on Virgin Atlantic which was a good experience.

Dad Would Have Loved This Date!

Dad, an acclaimed "palindromist" of sorts would have enjoyed today's date!  He was published in several palindrome journals and author of several palindrome themed short stories.  Perhaps his most famous work in this area was Stac'o'cats.
