The Halloween party was a success and our costumes were certainly among the best.
The robe Tricia made certainly made my costume and the black glove on one hand also added a nice touch. Steph's Queen Amidala costume also ended up working out nicely. She did a great job on her makeup even though it forced her to drink out of a straw for most of the evening.
There was another guy there dressed as a Jedi with the Mace Windu purple light saber that was pretty cool. We never got a chance to do battle though.

Night Night Honda
Great win by the Jayhawks! The Jackets appeared to squeek one out against Clemson 10-9 as well making it a good week-end for sure.
I forgot to update the blog that we sold the Honda Magna for $1400 a week ago. Amounted to a nice profit of $200.
The big Halloween party is tonight. I'll update the blog with photos of Steph and I tomorrow.

THIS WEEKS FOOTBALL BRIGHTSPOT!!! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!
BREAKING NEWS: Against all odds, KU downs MU
Kansan staff reportPublished: Friday, October 28, 2005
Led by a defense that has been aggressive all season long, the Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Missouri Tigers 13-3 today at Memorial Stadium.
After starting 3-0, the Jayhawks lost four-straight conference games to fall to 3-4, 0-4 in the Big 12 Conference. Today's victory keeps the Jayhawks chances of qualifying for a bowl alive.
The Jayhawks scoring came on two touchdowns, one by junior running back Jon Cornish.
With the game on the line and only five minutes to go, senior cornerback Theo Baines picked off Missouri's Brad Smith's pass at the one-yard line. A facemask penalty moved the ball to the 16 and and timely first downs by senior running back Clark Green put the game out of reach. Green finished the day with more than 100 yard.
Today's victory is the third consecutive victory for the Jayhawks over the Tigers.
Working on the doc
I'm editing the documentary this weekend while listening to the Huskers get beat by the Sooners. Maybe the Jayhawks will beat Mizzou.

Darth Beagle
Ranger received his Darth Beagle outfit from Cousin Yuki today so he's now primed and ready for Halloween.
Steph's Blog Debut
I thought this would be a good time to make my blog debut and share an 'incident' that happened last night.
Robert was away at a work dinner but had called to say he was on his way home around 9PM. I was getting ready to settle down and watch that new show about the woman president, 'Commander in Chief'. Geena Davis is great in it, by the way. But I digress.
We normally let Violet in to hop around with the beagles for an hour or two each night, and I was a bit overdue in transporting her inside. I went to the sliding door and walked outside. Kodak regularly escorts me outside, as Violet tends to purposely spill her food so he can have some. I had just opened the bunny's door when I see this LARGE RAT run by my feet and through the open door INTO THE HOUSE!! Well, I like to think that my feathers do not ruffle easily, but this time I screamed. Of course, Kodak was on its heels like a hound on a rabbit. The rat did a few laps around the family room and then ran down the hall, with Kodak close behind. Ranger was meanwhile taking everything in from the comfort of his dog bed. I was frantically encouraging Kodak to 'get it', as I could not bear the thought of the rat spending the night in the house, feasting on our computer cords and Halloween candy. Well, Kodak got it all right. It took less than 30 seconds from the time the rat crossed the threshold to the time it took its last pathetic rat breath. Not sure what the exact cause of death was, but there was a small amount of rat blood involved. Kodak backed off his prize the minute I told him to 'leave it', and seemed a bit dumfounded by his actions - as if he wasn't sure if he was going to be scolded or praised. He recieved a large treat which seemed to calm him down. Robert arrived home just in time to dispose of the rat carcass. Too bad we didn't take a quick picture to help archive this historic event. This is Kodak's second rat victory, but first indoor challenge.

Grizzly Man
In Columbia this weekend we went to see the documentary "Grizzly Man". It was very good and I highly recommend it. It was good for me to watch because in many ways it is similar to the documentary I'm working on. They are both the story of a man dedicating everything they have to an insane project, and they were both shot on a camera of similar quality so I got a good idea of how mine will look if it makes the big screen. If you get a chance, see Grizzly Man. At the very least, put it on your Netflix cue.

Better Week
It was a much better week in the land of college football. Michigan nipped Penn State - which we actually watched at a sports bar. Nebraska and Georgia Tech also secured victories. Razorbacks aren't looking like much at all this year. Steph was dressing up Kodak in her Michigan hat on Friday.
Not much else going on. I did give blood today, remembering Dad's advice that giving blood is like getting an oil change. Seems logical.
We're off to Napa/Sonoma again this week-end to visit with Chris and Kara one more time before their big move to London.

Jedi Robe (work in progress)
Tricia is making Robert and I Jedi robes for Halloween to use with our light sabers. Here are some photos of a robe in its unfinished state. You'll have to imagine the light saber at this point.

DeLorean
No denying the Vette is cool. I hope Dad buys it. The car I'D love to get some day is an '81 Delorean. They're available on ebay for from 5,000 to maybe 15,000. Stainless steel, gull wing doors, a must have for a Back to the Future fan! Maybe I'll snap one up one day if I have some spare money and a good mechanic.

Shitty Football Week-end
All our family teams lost in close games.
Kansas
Georgia Tech
Nebraska
Michigan
Shitty with a capital S. Capital is a word people mess up a lot. Another is loose. You could say the following: I went to Sacramento, the capital of California. Upon arriving at the Capitol building I tied up my horse because I didn't want to lose him. After lunch, I loosed my horse and we went home.
Usage Note: The term for a town or city that serves as a seat of government is spelled capital. The term for the building in which a legislative assembly meets is spelled capitol.

New Cell Phone
We're now getting a cell phone "allowance" at work, so I decided to upgrade my phone! It's a nice Motorola with a little vga camera in it. I think I may even be able to download a "P-Diddy" ringtone. My previous phone had been in use since 2001. Can you tell from the two pictures which is the old and which is the new?
If you look closely, you'll notice that the wallpaper photo on the screen of the new phone is actually a picture of the old phone. After 5 years of faithful service I felt it at least deserved memorial status.
If I ever get another new phone, I'll take a picture of the current phone displaying a picture of the old phone for my wallpaper.

Want better odds? Head to Tunica
Yep - the McDonald's Monopoly game is back. They don't publish the odds any more but you can bet you are better off sitting in front of a quarter slot machine than buying value meals hoping to get that one missing piece. Game looks about the same as always.
Here's where we can keep track of the pieces we run across:

Raiders 19 Cowboys 13
Our second Raiders game was WAY better than the first. First of all, it didn't rain 3 inches during the game like it did during the Jacksonville game last year. Second, the Raiders won (which was fun even though I'm a Cowboy fan as well) The Raiders defense looked solid with the exception of two long bombs it gave up. The Cowboys were not quite as good.
The real highlight is the extreme tailgaiting prior to the game. We met everyone at a McDonalds in Sacramento at 6:45am. The game started at 1. We arrived, set up, had breakfast, walked around a bit and had lunch. Here is a picture of Steph and a hard core Raider pirate followed by a snap of "Darth Raider"

Dr. Skipper!
First things first. In prepping for tailgaiting prior to the Raiders-Cowboys game we went to Safeway to buy a few items when we ran across 6-packs of Dr. Skipper for only $1. We had to give it a try and it was OK. Clearly inferior to the Dr. it tries to imitate but drinkable.
Huskers win in double overtime!
The Huskers may not be world beaters, but they are 4-0. Yesterday's game vs. Iowa State was great fun. It's the only time I can remember seeing college football overtime in person. The Husker's QB passed for over 400 yards and there was only about 35 yards rushing...the fewest amount of rushing yards in a game since 1967. Here is the Husker's winning OT drive, and the celebration that followed!
