Having heard of the famous 'Elvis Sandwich' for many years, I decided to try it. Research on the web reveals that many versions exist. The basic model is peanut butter and ripe banana on white bread, grilled in cow butter. Honey is sometimes added, and usually bacon too. I tested three versions: pb and banana, pb and bacon, and pb, banana, bacon and honey. The pb, bacon, and banana was tops with me. The honey didn't seem to be that good in the combination. Pb with just banana was also good.
Enjoy!
hmmm...
ReplyDeletethat really looks good.
ReplyDeleteThey a reason why Elvis got fat and dye yung!
ReplyDeleteR. Moore suggests extra-crunchy peanut butter, banana, raisin, and a generous slather of mayonaise on multigrain wheat bread.
ReplyDeleteTo aid in sandwich biting stability, slice banana in half lengthwise along the horizontal plane of the curved fruit. Slice again, crosswise, at the midpiont of the banana. Arrange the four resulting pieces in spoon fashion atop the peanut butter-covered bread slice, pressing slightly so that the slices are on a firm foundation. Add raisons atop the banana slices, also pressing slichtly to add stability.
Instead of mayo, any kind of jam, jelly, preserve, sour cream, or creamed cheese will also give unique pleasure and a gracious plenty of satisfying calories.
In addition to one day's calories, these combinations are pretty well balanced in addition to being yummy for the tummy.
