THIS WEEKS FOOTBALL BRIGHTSPOT!!! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!

BREAKING NEWS: Against all odds, KU downs MU

Kansan staff reportPublished: Friday, October 28, 2005
Led by a defense that has been aggressive all season long, the Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Missouri Tigers 13-3 today at Memorial Stadium.

After starting 3-0, the Jayhawks lost four-straight conference games to fall to 3-4, 0-4 in the Big 12 Conference. Today's victory keeps the Jayhawks chances of qualifying for a bowl alive.

The Jayhawks scoring came on two touchdowns, one by junior running back Jon Cornish.

With the game on the line and only five minutes to go, senior cornerback Theo Baines picked off Missouri's Brad Smith's pass at the one-yard line. A facemask penalty moved the ball to the 16 and and timely first downs by senior running back Clark Green put the game out of reach. Green finished the day with more than 100 yard.

Today's victory is the third consecutive victory for the Jayhawks over the Tigers.
