I thought this would be a good time to make my blog debut and share an 'incident' that happened last night.
Robert was away at a work dinner but had called to say he was on his way home around 9PM. I was getting ready to settle down and watch that new show about the woman president, 'Commander in Chief'. Geena Davis is great in it, by the way. But I digress.
We normally let Violet in to hop around with the beagles for an hour or two each night, and I was a bit overdue in transporting her inside. I went to the sliding door and walked outside. Kodak regularly escorts me outside, as Violet tends to purposely spill her food so he can have some. I had just opened the bunny's door when I see this LARGE RAT run by my feet and through the open door INTO THE HOUSE!! Well, I like to think that my feathers do not ruffle easily, but this time I screamed. Of course, Kodak was on its heels like a hound on a rabbit. The rat did a few laps around the family room and then ran down the hall, with Kodak close behind. Ranger was meanwhile taking everything in from the comfort of his dog bed. I was frantically encouraging Kodak to 'get it', as I could not bear the thought of the rat spending the night in the house, feasting on our computer cords and Halloween candy. Well, Kodak got it all right. It took less than 30 seconds from the time the rat crossed the threshold to the time it took its last pathetic rat breath. Not sure what the exact cause of death was, but there was a small amount of rat blood involved. Kodak backed off his prize the minute I told him to 'leave it', and seemed a bit dumfounded by his actions - as if he wasn't sure if he was going to be scolded or praised. He recieved a large treat which seemed to calm him down. Robert arrived home just in time to dispose of the rat carcass. Too bad we didn't take a quick picture to help archive this historic event. This is Kodak's second rat victory, but first indoor challenge.
I think Steph deserves a large treat also. RT
ReplyDeleteI have lost my ability to write to the blog because my hard disk busted. I hope Bill or maybe Robert can help me get back online.
